The Woman's Century Club was the first, and is still one of the largest, service clubs in Nampa. Initially established as a literary club, with the intent of bringing a library to Nampa in 1900, the club has changed it's focus over the years to reflect the needs of the Nampa community. It is inspiring to see what our founding members, and those who came after them, were able to accomplish. If you would like to know what they did, take a look at the history section of this site. Our club is part of a larger organization, the General Federation of Women's Clubs. GFWC, founded in 1890, currently has over 100,000 members with clubs in every state and more than a dozen countries. It is from GFWC that we receive our structure and direction.
This year our projects are aid to the Valley Crisis Center, a shelter for abused women and their children; a scholarship for a high school senior to assist him/her with continuing education; supporting the arts by sponsoring the Art and Poetry Contest for grades kindergarten through twelfth; assisting a low income senior citizen with food each month through the Adopt A Senior program; sponsoring a girl from our community to attend Girls State where she will learn the workings of our government; monetary support for our local Salvation Army; sponsoring our annual Spelling Bee for fourth grade students in Nampa and of course, the library.
